Lev Avitan is a philosopher, spoken word artist and theatre maker and prefers to combine all three of these disciplines at the same time. During the Opera Forward Festival at Dutch National Opera & Ballet, he shared his personal interpretation of the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. His work has related the traditional myth to Lev’s experiences with his mother’s illness. Like Orpheus, he wanted to do everything to keep her with him. The work has been displayed as an installation on 33 different screens throughout the theatre.
